Brand story

We are Wildlands, a highly respected consultancy with around 40 years of experience in ecology and ecological restoration. We’re committed to doing the right thing for the biodiverse, living environments (te taiao) of Aotearoa New Zealand.

We exist to give the natural world a voice, for our waterways, and our indigenous ecosystems, plants, and fauna. Our knowledge and understanding draws on ecological science and mātauranga Māori, acknowledging the important and complex relationships between people and land.

Nature comes first for us. We exist to make a real difference in the world, improving te taiao wherever we can, firm in the knowledge that what’s better for the environment is also better for people.

Our logo embodies our connection to nature and our place in Aotearoa New Zealand and has evolved from our original logo, which featured the leaves, putiputi/flowers and huarākau/fruit of the pūriri tree. The circular shape of the logo symbolises Papatūānuku/the earth and its continual cycles, interlaced with the venation pattern from ngā rau/the leaves of the pūriri, where manu/birds, pekapeka/bats, mokomoko/lizards/ and aitanga pepeke/insects find food and shelter. This pattern also represents the branching flows of repo/wetlands and awa/waterways. Kikorangi/blue represents wai/water and Ranginui, our matua/sky father. Kākāriki/green is the indigenous rākau/plants and ngāi kīrehe/fauna of the ngahere/forest. And the earthy whero/red references the clay of Papatūānuku, our earth whaea/mother, and the putiputi/flower and huarākau/fruit of the pūriri.

We stake our reputation on the quality and integrity of our work. Ethical and objective, we communicate our findings with a clarity that simplifies decision making.

Every one of us at Wildlands is passionate about te taiao — the natural environment. Together, we seek to improve it every day.

Vision

To be New Zealand’s premier ecological provider, making a real difference for people and te taiao/the environment, with a reputation based on outstanding services and impeccable integrity.

Mission statement

To provide high quality and cost-effective ecological information, advice, and technical services that enable sustainable management and enhancement of indigenous biodiversity, ecosystems, and resources and result in improved environments.
