Our connection to te taiao
Our logo reflects our deep connection to nature and our place in Aotearoa New Zealand. It has evolved from our original logo, which featured the leaves, flowers, and fruit of the pūriri (Vitex lucens), an iconic indigenous tree of northern New Zealand.
Pūriri is a fitting symbol for Wildlands. Its flowers and fruit provide food throughout the year for native birds and insects, while its branches and foliage provide habitat and shelter. The circular form of our logo represents Papatūānuku and the continual cycles of nature, while the interwoven leaf veins evoke the branching patterns of wetlands and waterways.
The colours reflect the natural world around us: kikorangi (blue) represents wai and Ranginui; kākāriki (green) represents indigenous plants and fauna; and whero (red) reflects the earth of Papatūānuku and the flowers and fruit of the pūriri.
